About Michelle Cilia

Connecting deeply with people is what motivates and inspires me most. Our relationships and connectedness to one another are what give our lives meaning. People close to me describe me as warm, open-hearted and easy to talk to.

When I was still in training, one of my supervisors said, “You have a way of taking people in quickly and truly understanding them” I believe that this is my gift and I’m so excited to share it. I work psychodynamically which means that the way we interact during sessions is similar to the way you interact out in the world. It is my hope that when you work with me you will feel held and deeply understood. During sessions, you can expect me to be interactive, collaborative and employ humor when necessary.

What Others Say

Michelle is one of the most skilled and kind professionals I have known during my forty-five years of clinical practice as a psychologist. She is a creative clinician who readily changes her approach to fit the person seeking help. Without any condescension, she is always able to relate to even the most upset individuals with kindness, respect, and a shrewd sense of what any particular individual needs.

With a combination of empathy and unique insight, Michelle offers a therapeutic approach that is both personal and strategic, giving clients the tools they need to conquer the challenges they face. Michelle has guided me toward a healthier lifestyle that includes balance and a sense of calm that I’ve never had before. Most importantly, Michelle’s genuine kindness and warmth creates a safe place to take an honest look at your feelings, personal conflicts and goals. I confidently recommend Michelle to anyone searching for a collaborative therapy approach that merges gentle, yet impactful guidance with strong coping skills to deliver long lasting value.

I had the pleasure of working with Michelle at Ritter Center. She is a dynamic and caring professional who always made herself available to support the development of my and others’ clinical practice. Her kind and calming demeanor (and sense of humor!) always put us at ease. Extremely dependable, confident, and positive, she was a huge asset to the team. A highly skilled clinician and colleague.
